Back from trip to Italy the thing i really enjoyed was the Porchetta. Pronounced por-cetta, porchetta is a savoury, fatty, and moist boneless pork roast that can be eaten alone, with bread or placed in a sandwich. The fatty, flavorful meat is full of herbs that gives that makes your nose perk up when you pass by. On the place back from Italy i was already planning on making once i got back to the states.

If you’re still awake between the hours of 1am-9am while visiting Las Vegas the Market Street Cafe at the California Hotel in downtown is the place you need to be.

The 3rd Annual Food Bloggers Fantasy Football League had their draft last night and it was the last of the year for myself as well. Last year i won it all with Aaron Rodgers leading my team to the championship, and with the 3rd pick i grabbed him again. With that pick I followed the same basic principal of building all of my Fantasy Football Teams.

I found a really simple Key Lime Cheesecake Recipe on AllRecipes.com but after doing it once i realized that i needed to adjust it slightly for my own and probably more simpler pie (cake?).

I don’t normally make it up to Los Angeles during the week very often anymore because traffic sucks and we only have a single client there it seems like now. Jonathan and I went to visit them on Friday to discuss a new project around noon. We left the meeting and were in search of something to eat and after checking yelp for anything good i noticed a restaurant The Golden State that i’ve seen on HopHeadJim’s instagram photo stream and decided to give it a try.

No frying or microwaving it up for Naomie’s 2nd Birthday lunch dish with Hiyayakko, a Japanese style cold tofu dish, with a side of steamed green beans drizzled with sesame oil and soy sauce.

On the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs there aren’t many choices once you hit the desert and the last beacon of hope stands the Morongo Casino. Its just another Indian Casino which tries to make you believe that blondes with big tits are swimming in the pool, but really its the same fat, old, or broken people waiting for the buffet.

My favorite place for a morning cup of coffee and a freshly made croissant has to be Amandine in Santa Monica. Its located on Wilshire Blvd and can be easily missed if you’re driving from the 405 to the beach, but its a spot that you should definitely stop by to grab a few pastries for the road, or take the time to sit down and enjoy a slice of quiche or an omelet.

I was never able to make it to the original Starry Kitchen since they were mainly a lunch place, but once they popped up at Tiara Cafe and offered up a Singaporean Crab on their menu I had to check it out. I thought the crab was good, the flavor was there, but in general needed more heat. Nguyen the owner said the chili peppers he got in for the day weren’t as spicy as they should be.

Not just a hamburger place. The UMAMIcatessen is like a big restaurant made up of little other restaurants. You can still get your Umami Burger, but you can also get your cured pork products, other fried pork bits too here, or a stiff drink if you so desire.

When you’re tired of McDonald’s breakfast, The Local Place is a great alternative for a cheap breakfast in and around Torrance. Had a delicious Hawaiian burrito that had fried rice, Spam, eggs, and green onions in it.

Downtown Whittier actually surprised me by how hip it actually is. After my basketball league’s sunday night game, the team went to the Bottle Room for some nice micro brews and happy hour food.

I don’t venture into the Brea area often but i was pleasantly surprised when i was looking for something to bring to a BBQ and found Merely Sweets on yelp and figured it was a good to bring even though our hosts said we didn’t need to bring anything.

One of the better restaurants in Manhattan Beach, which serves up very nice cocktails and pizzas. There are great lunch specials and are good for group dinners.

Traditional Thai breakfast are hard to come by, but when ever i feel like a bowl of Jook (Rice Porridge) with minced pork, with a side Pathongko i head to Siam Sunset in Hollywood. Its a little restaurant attached to a motel on Sunset but they serve up some traditional dishes for a really good price and cups of coffee sweetened with spoonfuls of condensed milk.

Classic Chinatown Dim Sum Location. Once considered the best in the city, but has been passed up by many others in the San Gabriel Valley.

I’m not in Beverly Hills very often, but got to enjoy a very good White Pizza at Pici Enoteca.

Sunny spot is a far departure from Roy Choi’s furikake popcorn, and even farther from the bulgogi tacos served from a classic white taco truck. Sunny Spot’s Caribbean food has a pretty diverse menu ranging from pig’s feet to a cuban sandwich.

Ramen is typically considered fast foot in Japan so i like the idea of getting a really good bowl of noodles in a food court rather than a sit-down style restaurant.

If marquee is the place to find all the bachelorette parties, Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak at the MGM Grand is the place to find all the bachelor parties. This place is where people come to eat meat, as 90% of the patrons were men, and they all seemed to order the Chef’s Beef Selection which was a 3 course meal with which made the table full of plates of different cuts of meats and sides. While the potions might not be comparable to Carnevino’s Ribeye for 2, it makes it up by being just a good cut of beef.
